Investors

Kodiak Venture Partners

Kodiak Venture Partners pursues a disciplined investment strategy that is focused on building seed and early stage technology companies into high-growth industry market leaders. Kodiak partners have deep expertise in building and investing in market leaders. The team invests in markets where they have had proven success over the years.

Founded in 1999, Kodiak manages three funds totaling $676M and targets companies in eastern North America. Kodiak forges deep relationships with entrepreneurs at the earliest stages and works with a hands-on approach to formulate business strategies, build management teams, and develop critical alliances and customer relationships.

Kodiak invests in seed and early stage technology companies that are exploiting fundamental shifts in very large markets or are bringing disruptive products, technologies or services to fast-growing, emerging markets. We invest in entrepreneurs who understand what it takes to build world-class organizations, and who are world experts in their company's technology and markets.

Kodiak focuses on building companies in eastern North America. The partners spend their time in markets where they have had proven success in building successful companies. This approach enables them to actively work with entrepreneurs at the earliest formation of their ventures to effect their long-term success. Our seed and first round investments typically range in size from $500K to $5M.

Sigma Venture Partners

Sigma Partners was founded in 1984 on the principle that people are the essential element of success. That is why Sigma focuses on identifying exceptional entrepreneurs with creative ideas and supporting them in building great companies.

Unlike some firms that hire venture capitalists based upon their business school degrees and finance backgrounds, Sigma thinks it’s much more important to have partners with experience in the trenches starting and running entrepreneurial companies. This first-hand experience allows them to give early-stage companies both tactical and strategic guidance and access to a powerful business network. They work on behalf of their portfolio companies. They know business doesn’t always go as planned, but because they have invested in the best and brightest entrepreneurs, together they adapt and create success.

For over two decades Sigma Partners has invested in over a hundred early stage companies, and their portfolio has consistently outperformed. In 2005, they raised $400 million for Sigma Partners 7, bringing their total capital under management to over $1.5 billion. They continue to invest today in the same way they have since inception, by identifying great entrepreneurs and collaborating with them to build strong businesses. Focusing on early-stage investing, they are typically the first venture investor and key board members. Their initial investment typically ranges from $2-8 million, and they invest in businesses throughout the United States.
